TEKE HUMBOLDT STATE COLLEGE/HUMBOLDT STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI REUNION 1997

6TH ANNUAL OCTOBER 10,11,12,13, 1997 GERLE CREEK

POST REUNION REPORT AND PHOTOS-OCTOBER 22, 1997

Pictures are back! So that everyone doesn't have to wait to see the group photo while I get them reproduced, I decided to scan it and post it up on the web page. Once I got started I decided that including some of the other photos, plus some commentary would help share the obvious good time enjoyed by all with those who couldn't make the show. So here goes! Because these pictures are color, they take up a lot of space and accordingly as you click on the link through the commentary, remember that it will take some time to download these gifs, especially if your computer is short on ram. So here goes!

Gerle Creek or Bust was an apt description for the trek that everyone took to find the reunion cabin in the Eldorado National Forest in what turned out to be a pretty steady snowstorm Friday Night! But to their credit, everyone did and more. Sixteen of us, including two jet skiis! If you look close enough, you can almost see Steve and Milt astride Steve's jet skis in all their glory, snow and everything! Of course, even though there was plenty of room on the cold floor in addition to the beds and cots dispersed throughout the cabin, several intrepid souls insisted on roughing it and sleeping out with nature, snow storm, bears, the works! Besides Randy Ghann(Ghannman) and Don Bertolette sleeping(tents) comfortably and without travelers in the night falling into them on the stairs, several other reunioners joined them including Bill Dibb(The Dibber), Bruce Bannerman, Bob Boschee and Richie Howe sleeping in the wilds! Of course, no one really had a good idea how much it snowed Friday night until getting a look see Saturday morning. As you can see, Terry Kreuiter(TK), with cup of ??? in his hand, is judging the night's snowfall firsthand, inorder to escape all the snoring and other activities led by Cowper still going on in the loft in the cabin! As for the socializing, BSing, sipping of Adult Beverages and Mineral Water, everyone generally faired well both Friday and Saturday Nights. Here we find George Boring and Dick Andrews reviewing the insurance policy George has just sold to Dick, while Richie Howe and Rich Hasper were all smiles when told their next round of cheer would be free by the host! While Richie and Rich were thinking about those free drinks, Don Bertolette and Randy Ghann were hooting it up. Obviously the Ghannman is telling Don how big that tree was and Don is enjoying every minute of it! Speaking of BS, here is Pete Cowper elaborating on a minor point to Bruce Bannerman and George Boring! As you can see, they were being very receptive to Peter's remarks on why there is small print and warning labels on the side of beer cans and candy bars! Exciting stuff here! Of course, not to be left out of any discussion of high finance and legal obstacles by Peter, here is Steve Quiggle and Milt Iskra giving rap attention to the obvious points being made by Peter too! Steve, by the way, you know Milt better than anyone else! Let us know what Milt is doing with his hands, will you? Obviously, you guys don't have the same touch as the Boschee when it comes to enjoying a conversation with Peter around. Here you have Bob Boschee and Pete Cowper enjoying a quiet, friendly moment! How nice. Of course the highlight of the 6th Annual Teke/Lagnaf Reunion was the Saturday Night Jam session conducted by Bill, "the Dibber," Dibb and Milt, "Milty" Iskra on the guitar and piano. They entertained everyone after the slideshow and general meeting keeping everyone in high spirits, while reminding many of us of the many late evenings in the Teke House when they both did the same when the band was long gone! Of course in a quieter moment of reflection, here is the Ghannman, Hasper and a quiet but reflective Peter Cowper thinking about what a good time it was Friday night and thinking ahead to Saturday night!

Of course, in addition to the jam session on Saturday Night, the most significant other day time action by this group was participation in the First Annual Teke/Lagnaf/Gerle Creek Open Chipping for Dollars Golf Tournament! Our resident Golf Pro, whose constant patter and praise for participants at just the right time, Richie Howe, set up on very short notice a grueling course which was a challenge to all! Here is a great shot of the Tournament Director, Course Supentendent and Golf Pro all in one with a brew and words of encouragement for his charges who are happily looking for their "balls" on the beautiful Gerle Creek Course! Well done Richie! You truly captured the imagination of the all the locals as well as the rest of us! That is George Boring, Milt Iskra, Richie Howe and Steve Quiggle all wondering where the Hell their "balls" are!

For the finale, the group decided that a photograph for posterity was necessary, thus necessitating an unplanned halt to the 1st annual chipping for dollars tournament! All of us made the picture except for Dick Andrews, who due to his Forest Service job in San Francisco had the "Early Launch Sunday Morning," so was well on his way down the mountain by the time this crowd rolled out to the 5th green on the Gerle Creek Course for this "Candid and Cheeky" photo. Bottom row first, left to right, me Mike Brattland, Bill Dibb(#1 Deadhead),Terry TK Kreuiter, Bruce Bannerman and Bob Boschee. Top Row, left to right, standing, Randy Ghann, Sam Brewer, George Boring, Milt Iskra, Pete Cowper, Richie Howe, Don Bertolette(glasses and Blue baseball cap),Rich Hasper, Tom Groarke and Steve Quiggle. what a crowd!

Some of the gathering stayed on Sunday Night and left Monday Morning. Those still at Gerle Creek were treated to another enjoyable evening of conversation and adult beverages and of course a little music by the DIBBER! TK, Bosche, Randy, Don, Pete and I again enjoyed Bill's music! Sorry I seemed to miss getting a good shot of Sam Brewer and Tom Groarke other than in the group photo. An oversight on my part. My apologies! For all those who couldn't make it, hope you enjoy the photos and make sure you don't miss next years get together. Oh yes 'Bird, a flying fickle finger was passed out to all the attendees at your request and they all concurred in returning the favor to you! When I get the group photo copies back, I will be mailing a copy to everyone on our list. Don Wise, where are you! Send us an e-mail!

Oh yes, please share your comments with me and of course I shall share them around so no one is left out. To make it easy just click right here!

Cheers. yitb mgb(Mike Brattland)
