For the alums of the Old Teke House at Humboldt State College/University who are looking for old friends, you are in the right place. Click on the Theta-Epsilon Alum List for a current listing of addresses, including e-mail, telephone numbers and mailing addresses, as shared with the "informal secretary," Mike Brattland. We are looking to add to the list, so if you have any information on old members, drop us an e-mail with the information. This database and alumni listing was the work of Frater Rich Moore # 378 who cleverly created and reorganized this original list obtained from TKE National.O We will be keeping it up to date, especially as we hear from members as they find us on the web.
For those who are just too far away, click right here for a trip live to Arcata Square. This should take you back and remind you of a little of the big little town of Arcata, home to Humboldt State! I think I can almost see Marino's ! Can you? No more as of late July 2001 as it burned to the ground. Sad day. For the sad particulars....thanks Doug Peterson for the URL here.

Or how about a quick review of the Theta Epsilon's old bylaws circa Dec 1969 signed by Steve Quiggle! Or how about the telephone answer speech for pledges or neophytes during "H&H" which was a reason why calling the Teke House by a lot of people on Humboldt's campus on that weekend every quarter was so popular; to hear them say!

10th Annual OLD HSC/HSU LAGNAF WEEKEND, 2001, by Pete Cowper, Esq #236
October 5,6,7 & 8, 2001 at Gerle Creek, left to right standing: Steve Quiggle, Bob Ickis,Randy Ghann, Tom Groarke, Rich Hasper, John Watt, Preston "Jolly" Baecker, Bob Boschee, Jon Roney, Bill"Dibber" Dibb, Don Bertolette, Milt Iskra, Fred Nave, Carl Samuelson, Dave "TJ" Tranberg, Richie Howe, Jim "Doc" Mills, Mike "Thriller" Miller, Pete Cowper, Steve Boyer, Doug"Barney" Finlay, Don Wise, Steve Richter; Sitting or kneeling in front, left to right :Larry Henderson, Dave Tollefeson and Sam Brewer. Dick Andrews missed the picture by leaving early. Mike Brattland took the picture.
It was a record breaking gathering with 28 old Tekes showing up at Gerle Creek from as far away as Friday Harbor, Washington, to Dallas, Texas. Cabin owner and host Mike Brattland arrived on Thursday afternoon to get the cabin facilities working, however, many Tekes also arrived on Thursday, once again arriving ahead of the cabin owner. A self-sufficient lot, they either set up camp at the RV area of the U.S. Forest Service Airport Flats Campground at the gate to Gerle Creek Summer Home Cabin Tract, or planned to perch on a bar stool of Robbs Resort five miles back down the road to await the crowd . . . only to find Robb’s new owners are closed on Thursdays.
The surrogate Bunny Hutch, courtesy of (800)-RV4-RENT, arrived Thursday night, allowing Sam Brewer and Rich Hasper to begin the Friday night Chili feast. Friday night the rapidly growing group assembled at Robbs Resort where Scottish Society of Central California Past-Governor Peter Macintosh Cowper bought the first round of drinks. The Robbs Resort Owners saw the crowd of rather prosperous looking aging Tekes and elected to remain open past their normal closing time until all had quenched their thirsts.
By Saturday almost everyone had arrived and the BS-ing was under full steam as everyone caught up with events over the past year and in some cases the past 30 years. After the Watt-Bertolette breakfast, the fisherman headed down to Gerle Creek or drove the mile or so over to Gerle Lake. Sam & Rich spent most of the day preparing the Saturday evening Tri-tip and chicken BBQ while the rest lounged on the porch offering comments on their progress. The Saturday evening slide show included a rerun of Pete Cowper’s 1968-1971 Teke House/Homecoming Parade/Lumberjack Days slides plus Lumberjack Days as a returning alumni for several years afterwards. The photos of Fred Nave’s inability to remain standing after bringing some of his Lodi family’s homemade wine to Lumberjack Days had the viewers in hysterics. Carl Samuelson brought some slides of the famous "Clear Lake Trip" to Bob Christie’s family lakefront cabin . . . which prompted discussion of whether his father even knew the Tekes were visiting, as some recalled that Bob had to hotwire the speedboat rather than use an ignition key. Mike Brattland showed his Teke slides . . . however they were mostly of his red 356 Porsche or of his dates, with none of the rest of us in most of them.
On Sunday, the annual Gerle Creek Invitational Pitch & Putt Tournament was held through the woods of the Airport Flats Campground. After another Watt-Bertolette breakfast, the group challenged the Richie Howe designed nine-hole links . . .complete with fairway-side Bloody Mary stand. The alleged winners were disqualified by the third place scorers, the legal team of Cowper &Tranberg, after the first and second place score cards were disqualified on a technicality for not having their scorecards properly signed and attested. In an uncharacteristic display of unfriendliness, few of the Tekes congratulated the two lawyers on their new first place finish.
The group began to leave by Sunday evening with most heading home on Monday, Many new faces appeared this year . . . with Doc Mills assuming Mike’s long time hunting partner, Robert Kelleher, M.D.’s position as target for free medical advice . . . wisely adopting Dr. Bob’s practice of responding to solicitations of free medical advice with the rule "I can’t provide free medical advice without first doing a prostate exam."
Those of you who missed it this year . . . fly fishing is in now with this crowd at Gerle Creek. Come up next year for a lesson and some on-the-scene practice. Columbus Day weekend next year will be 11th Annual LAGNAF,October 11-14, 2002.

Okay the 9th Annual gathering (October 6-9, 2000) is in the bag, For the details........
